Information on counselling and support services

The Australian Centre for Grief and Bereavement Counselling and Support Service (BCSS) provides national bereavement support for individuals, children and families who need assistance following the death of someone close to them. The Australian Centre for Grief and Bereavement (ACGB) has recently established an aged care support service for aged care residents, home care recipients, their families and for those who have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The free services will include:

Individual Grief and Loss Counselling

Our team of Specialist Bereavement Counsellors are trained to provide clients with the tools and coping strategies they require to support them throughout their grief experience. ACGB accepts self-referrals and there is no requirement for a mental health plan.

Bereavement Support Groups

The bereavement support groups at ACGB are a therapeutic, inclusive and supportive space where members meet to share common grief experiences.

Bereavement support groups provide a forum for emotional, practical and moral support. Currently, these groups are being held online.

Resources to Assist Organisations and Individuals in Supporting Bereaved People

The ACGB website is filled with useful tools and evidence-based resources to help individuals navigate their grief experience, source information and access the bereavement support they need.
