The Grief and Loss of Forgotten Australians

Forgotten Australians/Care Leavers are the 500,000+ adult survivors of institutional care homes in Australia during the last century (orphanages, foster homes and institutions). They are the now-adult children who were separated from their families. Some were deported from Britain as part of Commonwealth child migration schemes, and some were born in Australia. Forgotten Australians/Care Leavers now range in age from 50 to 90+, and many are now entering aged care services.
